Ellé Chew

Head of Marketing & Training

What is your background?

I graduated from Edge Hill University in 2016 with a BA(Hons) in Creative Writing. I have loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember and I wanted to obtain a degree in something that allowed me to use my imagination, but in a subject that would also come in useful for a future career. I started at Kensingtons in 2017 as a Graduate Recruitment Consultant. Speaking with people comes naturally to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Engineering & Manufacturing industries. In 2018 I started to build a market in Additive Manufacturing and became increasingly interested in all that it had to offer. Fast-forward to today, I've swapped out my role in Recruitment to be the company's Marketing & Training executive.

What do you do when you're not working?

You may have gathered from the last paragraph that I am a bit of a bookworm. Aside from this, I love the outdoors. On a weekend you'll find me in North Wales or the Lake District enjoying the fresh air and open spaces. 2020 has been filled with wedding planning, home renovations, and general 'adulting'. I also have two pets to keep me occupied, two sausage dogs called Wilfred and Sweep, and a tortoise named Bruce.

Are there any people or books that have inspired you?

People include Malala Yousafzi, Maya Angelou & Alex Honnold

Inspirational books: Women Talking by Miriam Toews, Home Going by Yaa Gyasi, and Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez

What's your favourite thing about your job and working at Kensingtons?

Kensington Additive is a great place to work. It's a small community of like-minded, hard-working people. I love the creative aspect of my job, but I also really enjoy helping people succeed and working to consistantly improve our processes as a company.

What are your 3 core values?

Education, Open-Mindedness & Compassion

What advice would you give to a client hiring in AM?

I would use the age-old quote from Albert Einstein, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Trying to hire through your own means can often work wonders, but there are times where you need to employ headhunting techniques to find the best person in the whole market, not the best person in the active market.

What advice would you give to a candidate looking for opportunities in AM?

An effective resume, listing out key achievements and skills. And definitely to bring personality to an interview!
