Liam Atkinson

Additive Manufacturing Headhunter

What is your background?

I graduated from The University of Salford with a B.Sc in Business and Financial Management. During my time at university I got a theoretical understanding of how business works, I extended my skills by doing a placement year at UTC Aerospace Systems. Through my time in the ‘real’ business world, I developed a strong understanding and skillset of how HR helps and supports so heavily in an organisation. I demonstrated my capabilities by winning a senior award and being the first to do so as a working student. I knew from my studies and experience that working with people was what I wanted to do and what better way to do so than continue into a career in recruitment.

What do you do when you're not working?

Since being a very young age I have played in almost every sport you could think of, I now just play football and golf but even that is restricted at times due to injuries (I can’t blame my age on that one). I also spend a lot of time out with the dogs on walks in the countryside.

Are there any people or books that have inspired you?

It is difficult to pinpoint one person/book/film but I can say that there are a lot of things out there that inspire me to hit the goals and heights I aspire to.

What is your favourite thing about your job and working at Kensingtons?

Speaking with new people on a daily basis and constantly learning about an ever-growing market.

What are your 3 core values?

Reliability, Determination & being a Team Player

What advice would you give to a client hiring in AM?

Look at all options when recruiting, and choose the best one for your business. Be open to change and try to understand that what you may think is the easiest option may turn out to be the most time consuming and costly method.

What advice would you give to a candidate looking for opportunities in AM?

Understand your strengths and be selective about where you want to be in your next role. Value your ability and be sure that your next move is the right one for you and your family.
