Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Program Manager will be a key member of the team, responsible and accountable for all projects related to high-fidelity prototype development.
These are frequently complex projects that include strict design criteria, high-quality standards and multiple manufacturing processes, from CNC machining to 3D printing.
The Program Manager will work closely with client R&D teams and internal production teams to ensure the success of prototyping projects by clearly defining and managing project scope, deliverables, schedule, budget and risk.
Working closely with the department managers to manage backlog reporting, production scheduling and client delivery dates
Working with clients on new projects to provide guidance on best practices for design and manufacturing methods, and evaluating the fit between the customer’s requirements/expectations and the company's production capabilities.
Prototyping Project Quoting:
Managing the quoting process, working with clients to clearly define requirements, working with production teams to determine production costs and timing, and working with the sales team to develop the final pricing and proposal.
Client-Company Project Coordination and Communication:
Actively maintaining communication between the production teams and the client throughout the project.
In conjunction with their Primary Responsibilities, the Program Manager will be expected to lead the following activities:
Providing clear technical, quality and delivery requirements to the production staff for all prototyping projects
Conducting risk management meetings with production teams and project engineers to identify risks or challenges prior to acceptance of order.
Participating in project strategy meetings with clients and teammates from operations, sales and management
Creating and leading project recovery plans as necessary to ensure project success
Forging deep client relationships, including keeping them apprised of new manufacturing techniques and exploring new business opportunities
Excellent project management skills
Critical thinking and detail-oriented problem solving
Flexibility to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Bachelor’s degree preferred
At least five years’ experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, including prior project management experience with manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, 3D printing, vacuum forming, etc.
At least one years’ experience creating BOMs and cost estimates for new projects
At least two years experience working directly with customers
Proficient in using Computer-Aided Design software to read 2D and 3D models
Proficient reading 2D drawings
Proficient reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
